Unveiling the Unseen: Empowering Awareness of Hidden Disabilities
In the world of hidden disabilities, many untold stories are awaiting exposure. At PiP, we recently partnered with a major tech company in the UK and Ireland to tell these narratives, illuminating the unseen through a unique awareness campaign.
Shining a Light on Hidden Disabilities
Hidden disabilities, such as Autism, Dyslexia, ADHD, and stuttering, often go unnoticed and unacknowledged. These conditions, while not immediately apparent, profoundly impact the lives of those who live with them. It was our goal to not only raise awareness about these disabilities but to provide an empathetic understanding of the challenges they present.
Immersing in Awareness: The AR Campaign
Our journey began with the creation of a set of interactive posters using SparkAR Studio, by Meta. Each poster was designed to replicate the experiences of individuals with different hidden disabilities, and by using their smart phone to 'activate' these immersive learning experiences, the viewers reported impactful, eye-opening new perspectives.
Enriching Knowledge: The eLearning Modules
To complement the AR campaign, we created a series of eLearning modules. These succinct, interactive courses delved into the intricacies of hidden disabilities enabled through carefully crafted animated videos and provided simple insights and actionable tips on how to support those colleagues or customers with these conditions.
More Than Just Learning: The Microsite and Swag
We understood that learning is a continuous process, and to facilitate that, we developed a dedicated microsite loaded with additional resources and learning materials. This platform allowed for an ongoing educational journey where learners could continually pull from a wealth of knowledge at their own pace.
To make the learning journey even more rewarding, we rolled out a series of swag items including stickers, badges, and pins upon completion of the learning curriculum. These tangible tokens served as a reminder of the commitment to understanding and supporting those with hidden disabilities.
The Impact and Value: An Enlightened Workforce
The significance of such an initiative cannot be overstated. Research from the Centre for Mental Health shows that poor mental health costs UK employers up to £45 billion a year, a figure that has risen 16% since 2016. By fostering awareness and empathy around hidden disabilities, we can create inclusive workplaces where employee productivity can increase by up to 30%.
Taking the Next Step The success of this campaign underlines the power of innovative learning solutions and the difference they can make in creating a more inclusive and empathetic working environment.
